Addition: The deciding factor was my own obsession. I've spent a long time researching a new bike. I bought a starter bike last July figuring to upgrade in a year if I really got back into cycling. I started researching a new bike in January, and by March I had decided on the Roubaix Pro. Later, I decided on the Comp. The proverbial straw was the thought of buying the Comp, and always remembering that I had originally picked the Pro and settled down a level. The Pro is more expensive now, but I would have likely spent more on upgrades after I bought it once the obsessiveness kicked in. :lol:

Having said that, I ordered the Pro today. I'm buying it from a bike shop out of town, and will pick it up on the 25th. I went out of town for reasons of loyalty - Plano Cycling has been really great to me, and it gives me an excuse to visit family in the area. It's a win-win situation: I visit with my family and my in-laws, and I get to pick up a sweet new ride. Plus, I found out my older brother has also gotten back into cycling, so I'm hoping to break in the new bike during our first ride together in 15 years. :D I sure hope the Pro blows away whatever he's riding! I'm not following the logic here. $1000 difference between the bikes? (Specialized.com lists the difference as $1100 BTW) Buy the Comp and sell the Equipes for around $200. That leaves $1200 for you to buy an upgraded wheel set. That will buy some amazing wheels. The only other substantial difference is the Ultegra brakes and the FSA crank. If you swapped them out for DA yourself and sold the parts, you're are talking a difference of $300. That still leaves $900 for upgraded wheels.
Forget silly egos and comp vrs pro worries. Get the best value and upgrade it. |

This is a little off topic, but have any of you had problems with the Zertz fittings coming loose. I was cleaning my bike last night and noticed that the Zertz fitting in the seat post is loose, I could probably push it all the way out if I tried. The velcro strap on my wedge bag will keep it from falling out, but I'm not sure how safe it is.
