Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Here it's just gross and fake-rainy, but horribly humid and low-70s. Hoping it's dry for tonight; I want to try the tubeless tires.

It jumped 9° in the last hour.

I said my fond farewells yesterday to the last cool and comfy weather we'll be seeing until September.

I guess I didn't learn from my first Vivoactive HR. I took my warranty replacement into the hot tub and the water seals failed killing my watch. I'm sure it's out of warranty now though.

Not a big fan of the heat. Mid-70s today, which is probably ideal, but mid-80s tomorrow, not ideal. WTH ... this isn't July!

Heading to the gym now where it's always comfy.

Amelia? I think I've been there, but never cycled while I was there. I have family in Brunswick, GA.

I've cycled in Sarasota some where RJ is. It's windy on the beach, but that's where the drivers are nice and slow. Flat as a pancake. Any cycling on streets in FL is dangerous with all the old geezers around. People in horrific wrecks going the wrong way down one way streets is not uncommon there. As a ped/cyclist ALWAYS look both ways, even on one way streets in that part of FL.

Sarasota and st pete (just across the bay bridge) go back and forth being the oldest avg age population places on the planet. Watch the F out around there.

I'd call them anyways. My first one bricked itself on an update. No issues with the replacement, but I'm out of warranty by now for sure. Maybe heat + water is the killing blow?

I put in a warranty claim.

The heat may have been an issue, but it was waterlogged. Same as last time. Press on the screen and water comes out the edges.

I've had my eye on a Fenix 5x and may go with that...

Club rides nearly every day in Sarasota. Dad chooses rides that minimize interaction with cars.

Looks like Allied is gonna offer Crumpton-esque translucent paint

Their frames aren't as pretty as Crumptons, though...

I have a new 28 minute isometrics routine, which I was doing once or twice a week, cause it's so hard. Two evenings in a row, along with two rides in a row, along with two days in the pool. I feel every major muscle group in my body every time I move. Must be a good thing, no?
We continue to have March weather through most of April and now into May. Can't not ride under such conditions.
