Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm still having trouble dealing with the new thing where you have to choose your activity before starting on the phone app. I'm used to just tapping again to start but now that usually puts me in a CANOE!!! Then I have to angrily stab the screen again to start

I've never once experienced the app.

The Garmin uploads it.

Busy day yesterday. I got up early and met three friends in town, we rode to a local 50-mile benefit ride, did the ride, and rode back, for a total of 90 miles. I know we shoulda made it a century, but 90 was enough...then took mrs datlas out for lunch and korean grocery shopping, came home, planted 6 tomato plants in the garden, mowed the lawn, picked up daughter #2 at friends house, did the regular grocery shopping, made dinner for both kids, and phew! I was wiped out. Slept like a log.

I would love to ride again today, but rainy weather plus Mother's day means not likely.

p.s. I almost forgot, I drank my 355ml Mexican Coke at dinner. It was fine but I don't know if I am going to run out and get any more. Water seems the ideal drink for me.

Tomorrow is the last day we won't get above 90* for the foreseeable future.

Overnights will be a minimum of 70* as well. #summeriscoming

You're limping? Bummer!

Super nice of that lady to have such compassion for a stranger. In some other places, walking around limping is sure to get you mugged.

busy and productive day indeed. Kudos.

You might want to check with the water czar on allowable quantities.

Wow, those are some good genes to be able to overcome all those bad habits. (Not that an occasional whiskey is a bad habit.)

My Garmin uploads it too. But, I often pop on to the app to change the bike, if I'm not on the Allez.

Or pre-hydrate before rides, so you don't have to carry unnecessary water on the bicycle.

Did Strave really change that much? Or are its terms more explicit now?

I use the phone app for the 'social' aspects (liking/commenting), but almost never when it comes to rides/ride data, though. Curiously, I can't find a way to delete activities from the desktop/browser but it's plain as day on the phone.

It’s on the top left center of the page. Doesn’t look like is should be for the particular ride but, it is...took me a few looks too...

Speaking of Garmin uploads, any of yous GPS-less Addicts interested in a 310xt (sans strap, with quick connect)? A full battery still has more than enough juice to cover a century+, it's prolly more accurate than your phone and you won't have to burn through phone battery on rides. The main downside vs phone is that it doesn't upload automagically - you have to get it within range your networked PC with ANT+ (I can send a dongle, too). No charge - I don't feel like dealing with CL, so if you want it, PM me.
