Saturday -- I ran for the first time since January. Still can't face cycling. Plus the weather was pretty bad.

Sat: Sun came out and it got into the 60's maybe 70 today. GF and I did 27mi pretty mellow for me. Except I did test out the new bike on one of my short KOM hills and surprised myself with a 7 second PR.

Club B ride of 28 mi. w/1800 ft. elevation which was my first real ride and very difficult. I think I finished at 12.7 mph. The good new is that I am starting the season 8 lbs lower than ever before and my breathing and heart are good. But, thanks to a bad winter I have little in my legs.

Sunday -- 30 minutes on the trainer and weights.
Weather really wintery here. It's way to early to be winter already!

Saturday, 28.5km training ride along my usual route. For fun, I thought to try recording 4K footage with my action cam just to see how much better the quality is compared to the usual 1080p that I use. Didn't really like it that much, but not because of quality. Recording time was limited (battery wouldn't even last an hour recording 4K @ 100Mbps), resulting file size is huge (26.1gb), and huge overhead in processing time. But if anyone wants to see the boring weekend training route whenever I don't go anywhere else interesting: https://tinyurl.com/yadgrqfo
Moving Time: 56:55
Distane: 28.5km
Avg Speed: 30.1km/h
Max Speed: 56.2km/h
Elevation Gain: 140m
Sunday training ride again, but slightly shorter route because I needed to be back early. Took the mini-velo this time, to see if I could hammer some speed out of the thing. On straights I could maintain a pretty good pace, but uphills was a struggle; felt like it accelerated pretty quick but also rapidly lost momentum between each pedal stroke.

56 Miles, warm dry day, headed out on on of my favorite rides. It has a big hill at the end that is very slow going, I usually stop at a park and rest for a few minutes before starting up it. Had a great ride.

No riding today - not even inside, but yesterday I had two distinct rides, and they wore me out.
First was a time trial. I didn't do very well, but I put in a more consistently hard effort than last time, and the finish was uphill, so that made it a little extra hard, but altogether it was pretty fun - nice course and great weather.
The drive home was about an hour, so I got a good snack before putting the bike back together and heading out. The intention was to try to intercept a group of friends who'd gone out on a long ride (to Bear Mt) on their way back, by taking their planned route, which passed near my home, backwards.
If all had gone according to plan, I should have intercepted them about 20 miles before the end of their 100-mile ride, but a few things conspired to prevent that. First, I wound up taking a wrong turn. The reverse route is both unfamiliar and more complicated - left turns across highways, etc., and then when I figured I knew where I was going I mistook the road from a shorter training route for the main route and wound up going the wrong way. I'd calculated that I should be encountering the group within half an hour at that point, but when I realized I was totally off course, I figured my chances of meeting them were practically non-existent, so I just headed home, making my way back to 9W where I knew they'd eventually end up. For a while, I rode very, very slowly, figuring that if I couldn't catch up to them, maybe they could catch up to me, but once I got about 7-8 miles from home, I gave up on that and hammered a few familiar segments just for kicks and hard-earned PRs.
It wasn't until some time after I got home that I discovered that the group was much further behind than I thought when I decided to turn back, and because it took them a lot longer for them to complete the first three quarters of their ride, they ended up returning by a much more direct and familiar route. At first, I was kind of worried - no sign of them on social media for hours until I pinged them. Normally, they're a pretty post-happy bunch. Turns out they were too exhausted, and some of them didn't upload anything until this morning!
Altogether about 42 miles, 2400' from the two rides in yesterday's warm, calm sunshine. Today I just stayed inside, rested, and avoided the return of miserable March weather.

Again started w/ group ride which fortunately started earlyish,
& continued past their far point at ~40 miles.
Beautiful day w/ favorable winds, an excellent slice of pizza, & many turkey sightings.
Also a festerment of Corvettes passed (at least 40) but then I passed most of them as they waited at a roadwork light
& I took the old (closed) road w/out stopping.
Overtook a rider toward the end who turned out to be my GF's friend's GF (got that?)
so had some company for the final 20 miles.
140 miles, 8,300'

Good thing I played hooky on Thursday: 61.6 miles with 3,596 feet elevation, and my first short sleeves ride of the year at 55F!
Saturday I rode 2.1 miles for errands. It was too icy to walk.

Just a 35 mile flat ride on paved commuting trails. It was sunny and warm (70ºF) and it was nice being able to wear short sleeves and no long pants. https://www.strava.com/activities/1511307578

32, 21 and 32 mile rides this windy weekend. Slow slogs into the headwinds, but the tailwinds were fast and fun.
Finally getting my mojo back after feeling puny and weak from recurring flu most of January-March. Getting stronger on climbs, cracked a couple of Strava top tens and several new PRs.
Also fixed a rear derailleur problem that was dragging me down. The original RD on my old steel road bike had way too much spring tension. The effect was like brakes dragging on the rear wheel. Replaced it with an older Shimano 600 RD, fixed the problem neatly. Some adjustments, including getting used to friction shifting again since the Shimano RD isn't compatible with my bike's Suntour indexed shifting, but it's coming along.

Did cookie cutter rides Saturday and Sunday to Picnic and Davis Is, then home via downtown Tampa. Saturday was great weather, Sunday the wind really picked up. Felt pretty good both days for 82 miles total.

73 mile group ride. 295TSS and some decent (smaller) climbs thrown in. Just a bit of rain on the ride, nothing too bad.
Got a PR on the Cat 4 climb next to my house, so I was pumped at that. Then a guy from our group beat my time up the climb by 1 minute and 20 seconds. Those skinnier guys are so fast up the hills!
