Thin fibre off sidewall of tire
A new one for me. Ended ride and there was a thin black fiber - think thick sewing thread - partly coming off my rear tire yet still attached to it at either end (Conti GP4000ii s). I could pull it off and it went around the tire, and then broke it before pulling too much. Fiber was on the sidewall just above the bead (i.e., just above the rim).
This didn't seem good that such a bit would start coming off, but does this mean the tire should be discarded? Tire seems to have plenty of tread (or flat rubber) left to go.

I've had dozens of this model tire unravel after being in the sun.
Now, when I see a thread, I just snip it instead of pulling.
It's not an issue.

Yep, many tires will have a type of a fabric wrap that goes just over the bead, and these wraps sometimes shed strings. They seem to be endless, so I prefer to cut them.
They often don't continue to unravel after being cut, but I could imagine a dab of some type of glue might help too.

Contis always do this. I keep pulling the threads until they stop coming off; it's no problem.
It's just the bit of fabric that protects the bead, and the bit poking above the rim is surplus to requirements. Your tyres are lighter without those spare threads

Back when I still used Contis, I did this once. Tube was flat in the morning.. I honestly didn't hold the lighter up next to the tire for more than a split second to light the fiber(s) and thought I'd solved things nicely... Nope. fingernail clippers from then on.
