Tip for you guys with big hands: Double wrap the drops. (this assumes a flat/ergo/aero top section... 'cause that part's already comfortable)
Wrap the bar (from the bottom, of course) in the standard direction, to the hood... Cut and tape the bar tape at the hood. Now, wrap the bar as usual - standard direction - finishing as usual.

For fans of Zipp Service Course CX, it's also available as BBB FlexRibbon, VP Components VPT-3307, Trivio Super Grip and likely other generic brand tape producers. You get the same tape without embossed logos and for even less money.

It's a bit slippy when wet under bare hands though.

Those "carbon" tapes are also sold by numerous brands, and can be found in lots of colours. Trivio markets red and celeste in addition to the four Deda colours for example.

I was going to say that it feels cheap to me, and that hardness of texture is probably why it's slippery when wet. I bought some mail order, in both gold and silver, and never used them once I actually had a chance to touch it.

I tend to think it is, in almost every condition, although probably less so for gloved hands. I think the extra textural elements give a richer feel at hand, too, particularly when compared to something like a smooth PU bar tape.
All else being equal, I'd always choose textured tape over smooth.

Not sure if there was a misunderstanding here - the alternatives to Zipp that I listed are all textured (it is pretty much the exact same tape), they just don’t have any logos embossed unlike Zipp.

Zipp has in in road and CX model of the service tape. Road is smooth, CX is textured like the lizard skins stuff. Both are super good but I like the grippyness of the CX version. Used both and they arr both very very good.

Oh, I looked on the Zipp website which linked to a pdf with an image of the tape which was smooth other than the embossed logo. Excel Sports' site also pictures the Service Course tape as smooth aside from the logo:

BTW, the regular Service Course appears to be the same as Cinelli Volee (and Cinelli 3D Volee is the same as Zipp Servise Course CX). I'm guessing there is one factory that makes all these tapes, various brands just order them with different logos.

I actually like the Bontrager Gel Cork tape. It's not the lightest tape, but it has decent grip while wet and wears really well - better than the Cinelli cork stuff that I used for years. Fun designs, too: https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/e...de=white_black

"nice and thick"... compared to what? I just put it on to replace some worn Bontrager Gel Cork, the Supercaz is harder to wrap and nowhere as thick. In fact I'd never use the word "thick" to describe Supercaz. Can't wait to take that stuff off.

Nice, comfortable and weather resistant! Nice suede like texture isn't slippery with sweaty hands.

Lizard Skins here. I love the tackiness because I sweat profusely when riding. With the Lizard Skins I never worry about my hands slipping on the bar.

Or you can go silly expensive and matchup through Busyman Bicycles hand tooled leather saddles and bar tape. I have to admit to True ego and consumerism and say that I just bought some tape from mick with offset dots that match my frame colors.
