Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So bummed this AM. Ruined a perfectly good tube on my trainer front wheel. I just keep it pumped up so the bike will be level. Damn valve lock got pushed up into the stem by the pump head. What could be more embarrassing than having to replace a trainer bike tube?

I guess I could have kept it simpler by just saying no salt on fruit.

When visiting a fast food joint as youths, my friend would occasionally ask for fries with no salt. No, not because he was worried about sodium intake, but because the fries currently being served weren't fresh/hot enough for him. Once his fresh, saltless batch was made, he'd bring 'em to the table and give them a healthy shake of salt.

I wouldn't put salt on melon, but I do like melon slices with a salty cured meat on them... mmmm prosciutto.

I have decided that today is the day. It's rotating tubeless tires day. I was going to get lazy, leave the front in place and put the new one on the rear, but I might as well do it right.

I live in the big city. I know the difference between a roach and a water bug. The area around my house is damp. Just killed a YUUUUGE water bug on my back deck last week. Once in a blue moon I will find one in my tub. This was a roach. I will post a pic later.

I feel like a geek for saying this, but these new tubeless valve stems that I just picked up are SUPER SWEET.

TL;DR- It's a talc-like powder that is really the crushed remains of trillions of diatoms. It's like rolling in a bunch of microscopic glass shards to an insect... it gets under their exoskeleton and slowly dries them out through many small puncture wounds. That's a very satisfying way to kill a bug.
I ordered tons of stuff where I use to work.....we still had bugs. I've also heard of using this to get rid of or as a barrier to slugs in a garden for the same basic reason.

In SoFla we had Palmetto Bugs which are bigger and grosser versions of cockroaches.

Okay, I changed my mind - both new tires are going on. I just can't handle the thought of a shiny new tire on one wheel and a road-weary tire on the other. I'll rotate the old front tire in to the mix in a couple few thousand miles.

So in my university years I lived in Baltimore and we had to deal with roaches and waterbugs. I hated the waterbugs because they move fast and make a scraping sound on the hardwood floors, that would wake me up in the middle of the night and freak me out!

I ate a small cantaloupe for dessert at lunch and there was salt. Salt brings out the sweetness. https://www.sciencefocus.com/qa/why-d...nhance-flavour

Orange Seal Versavalve -

They must be aluminum - they're really light. It's nice that they came with four valve stem bodies, too. Oh, and black.

Nice. I ordered a set of those for a guy going tubeless on 60mm rims. My favourite feature is the flats on the nuts.
