Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

SAD DAY for TREKMOGUL

You all know I live 6 months out of the year in Sri Lanka and one of my cycling buddies whom I ride with succumb to his catastrophic injuries he received from a terrible high speed decent bike crash. He lost control of the bike at about 48MPH and slammed into a coconut tree with such force that is dislodged several coconuts from the tree. He was 39 years old ,married and a 2 1/2 year old daughter...! I am heart broken over this guys.. He is the one on the right in the picture..

Apparently, Heaven wanted him back. That placid, Buddha-like expression tells me so.

I would do very special a ride. and dedicate it to his memory. He may even decide to give you a little push up the hill.

i’m sorry for the loss of your friend.

I wouldn’t look at his wreck like it was poor judgment, or a bad choice. Wrecks/accidents happen.

I agree! This is a dangerous sport and wrecks do sometimes just happen.

I am truly sorry it cost the OP's friend and his family so dearly.
