'05 Seattle to Portland (STP) - Who's In?

I know a lot of people mention throughout the year their desire to do this ride. We are now 3 weeks away, so who is going and what are your plans?
I got a small team of 4 riders - MrBallistic, Patriot, myself and another friend - who are committed to attempting the entire 202 miles in 10 hours NET riding time. I did it on my own last year and it was a blast. Anybody else want to join us - let it be known here.
Or, if you'd like to hook up with other forum members with a different plan - post it here.
July 9 and 10 - here's more info: https://www.cascade.org/EandR/stp/index.cfm

you guys make me want to move to the Pac NW So many cyclists... We have a fair number of cyclists here, but most are solo-ists or just recreational riders, not die-hard cycling junkies.

i'm going to give it a go for the 2 day. I've been pretty sick and not been able to put any miles on the bike. I'm just back on it this week after being off for a full month. A 30 miler is towards the limit. I have a few more weeks to build up but there's no way i'll keep up with anybody. I'm really bumed about it. have fun though.

I'm definitely in for the one day-er. I was hoping to get to ride with you folk...
How/when are you Portlanders planning on getting up to Seattle? I'm assuming it would be a nice early start time, so it seems like it would be a pain to drive up there so early then spend 10 hours riding. Just curious, and also if there are any carpool options going on...

I am doing the 2 day-er I promised a couple of friends that. I did the one day-er last year and did it in 11 hours this year I want to stop and smell the pancake breakfast in Centrailia. I would love to ride with you guys for the first half if that is cool what time are you taking off and what sort of MPH are you going to sustain? I may bomb the first half and cruise the second. OH yeah since you guys are going to make it to Portland first are you gonna sag us on sunday at the finish?

I am in for this year doing it in two days versus the one day last year but I dont have nearly the miles in this year that I had last year. I am undecided as to where to overnight most likely in or around the 125 mile mark....just not looking forward to sleeping on a floor which was my main motivation in doing it in one day last year.

Gonesh9 and Sunninho - you're in with our group - I'll send you a PM with details about hooking up.
Ride starts at 5 am, which is the best time to get going if you are doing it in one day. The key is to get to St. Helens as early as possible to avoid the late afternoon headwinds that can kill you the last 30 miles.

I'm in. 1 day with a group of friends. Already have hotel reservations in Portland for Saturday night, and a massage scheduled for Sunday. We're doing our third century+ ride this weekend, and unless it's unusually hot weather, I have the hydration, fuel, and elctrolyte issues all worked out. I'm expecting between 11 and 12 hours on-bike time for the ride.

I may do it if my schedule's clear, if I do I'll most likely ride north from my house (Tacoma) and jump in by Pacific on hwy 167 still = 200 mi. by the end. I've done that route 3 times in the past. I usually decide the night before

Anyone headed for Vader...look out for a young guy on a somewhat purple diamondback lakeside with an Aussie jersey. BTW for Flying Wheels last weekend there were 2,500 riders at last count! Does anyone know how the guy who went down on East Lake Samm. is doing? The nurse at the scene thought that he had probably sustained brain damage...

https://www.cascade.org/ has an events message board. You might get some info there. Last report was that he is in a coma.

My mom's bf was there when he went down but basically frtom what I heard he didn't say on your left and so the guy on his right swerved out and they tangled. Apparently they weren't going too fast either but the way that he hit the ground caused his ears to start bleeding and then the cops of course wouldn't let anyone near him or the scene etc.

I am definitely putting on a bell for STP... I can only call out on your left so many times... but instead you'll just hear "ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding,
