Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I really want to go home. My last patient was scheduled for 7PM and it's 7:15. How long am I supposed to sit around and wait? Sad!

There should be a lending library for that.

So, I decide to order a table top stand for my wife's small 32" tv that she has on a small chest of drawers. I start checking online at Target, Walmart and Amazon a couple days ago and they are running about 18-25 bucks. Couldn't find one at my local Target or WM so I decided to order from Amazon.

Now, remember, I just checked a couple days ago and yesterday. Today, Amazon informs me that the stand I want is $45 but I'll get it Saturday. I log out and back in and its ~$19 and I'll get it Sunday. What? Anyway, I order it.

A couple hours later, my wife asks me if I ordered and if I did, she'd like to see it. I call it up on Amazon and it's now just under $18 and I can have it by Saturday.

Their algorithms are weird.

The internet must be tracking my reading. I just got an email from my local Lebanese joint telling me it was free baklava day with a full meal.

Spooky!

33º and sunny, but nuking from the NW. Afternoon ride is in question.

And no wonder they hate us. On Wednesday, I was stopped at a red light, to the left of an active right turn only lane while some schnook took a lead from the right gutter. A roadie pulled up next to me and actually yelled at the guy. Pointless. This morning I saw someone pull that stunt across four busy lanes, making people hit the brakes. I hope he doesn't drive.

Wish my balaclava tasted better.

Hey, you know how before a group ride some guys start making excuses "I am a little under the weather, I didn't sleep well last night, etc" to justify why they are not going to have a strong ride?

Does that pre-activity excuse making phenomenon have a name??

Managing expectations. Are they project managers?

Thanks gang, but there is a term that is one-word that people use. Kinda like "sandbagging" but I know it's not that. It's almost the OPPOSITE of sandbagging.

Scored some venison & pork sausage during lunch. The butcher has roasts and ground also. Anyone got a good venison chili recipe?

If you are viewing bf on a phone or tablet then yes, yes they are tracking you. The omni-google (or Apple) know everything about you. Also the government of the country where your device manufacturer is based is also tracking you.
