Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I watched this video. RT, but non-political, so it's safe.

Sailing questions for @MoAlpha @Heathpack :

Do you sleep on a hammock?

Do dolphins really swim along the front of the boat?

Exactly what is the watch person on the top of the mast watching for? Pirates?

Two CX events this weekend. Two races each day: regular CX and fat bike. It will be a real fall weekend, high temps in the 50s and rain on Saturday. Saturday will likely be a rainy, muddy race (i.e. classic cross).

it was pleasantly cool today. Neither @rjones28 or @DougRNS shutdown for the winter. Did you do anything noteworthy today? Importing and exporting going well? RA under control? BTW, for your sanity's sake, put the Twitter pipe down.

No

All the time

Things you might hit: icebergs, reefs, whales, etc, depending on where you are. Things you’re looking for: whales, land, etc. Things of big interest to you when you’re on the ocean- ie weather.

I tried out @MoAlpha's shoes. They're wearable, at least on a short ride. Not sure if problems would emerge longer distance.

The pedal/cleat placement was different than I'm used to. Not sure if it was this, or riding back-to-back days, but my knee acted up. There's something weird going on with one pedal/cleat. I have not yet diagnosed it.

I got a love letter from the witch doctor saying she's closing her office (half an hour drive away) and moving two miles away. However, there's going to be a two month gap before she sees patients again. What if something bad happens during the interim?

They say the hammock is comfy. The rolling ship doesn't disturb the sleeper.

The ship was way out in the Atlantic going to the Canary Islands. I don't think icebergs or reefs are much danger. Shipping containers? wut

Once upon a Time on the mighty Columbia River a sea lion swam up aside the boat. I was freaking out!

Up until that time I had no clue they were wont to swim 100+ miles up a river

Possibly. More likely, we will consider our recent Indian lunch buffet to suffice. Mrs datlas is quite thrifty.
