Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That's awesome. The extra room should come in handy for thicker socks during your frigid winter rides.

Why don't you help? Too tired from all the standing?

On a related note, I searched for extra cleats I have in storage and discovered I also have a Halo II pullover headband I ordered at least two years ago, but never opened. Also, a cassette.

I should have done it yesterday. I'll do it today, since the highs are barely above 50F in the coming week.

Just checked the forecast. Apparently Fall decided to give us 1 hour notice on its appearance. High today is 81 with 90% humidity and afternoon thunderstorms (hurricane remnants), tomorrow the lows are in the high 40s with 50% humidity. Guess I'll go from no base layer to full warmers overnight.

The other interesting thing in that post:

While Knoxville may not have as many bike lanes as the top cities, it's hosting a research project which could make a big difference for cyclists everywhere. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is using the city as a testing grounds for a safe passing law study. “The police department will be actively enforcing the safe passing law using a 3 foot detection device that uses sonar. Meanwhile a group of civilians will be riding with these detection devices outfitted on bikes to gather data on motorists behavior,” says Amy Johnson, a cyclist, advocate, and bike-focused lawyer in the community.
Has anyone here seen this device?
