Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I like the fact that if I order a test/procedure/medicine/treatment I don't make a dime from it. I do think that's the way it should be.

Because my eyes looked messed up. His prediction last week was that I would need cataract surgery in 6 months. My vision has definitely gone down hill since I saw him two years ago. Rx has changed, and not just by a little.

Could not agree more. My institution provides only free care, which is nice too.

NextDoor, always enlightening, informs me that some people are actually bothered (enough to complain about it online) when their neighbors park in front of their house rather than in front of their own house.

Only when the lights are shining. We had one nutjob neighbor park in front of our house while a bus was in front of it. Of course, those neighbors are now gone... It's amazing what heroin does to an otherwise productive lifestyle. Pretty sure it's a grow house now.

Certainly happens occasionally in my neighborhood. We also voted in permit parking to keep the riffraff out.

We have one for my 'hood. Never bothered with it. As for parking, anything goes in the big city. The Parking Authority rotates neighborhood enforcement. They were in my 'hood earlier this week. A couple of people got tickets for blocking crosswalks. The unwritten rule is that they will give you until 8:30 a.m. to move your car. After that, you are fair game.

Do they still park on the median on Broad Street in South Philly? I could not believe it when I first saw that!

I believe so. You should see some blocks in S. Philly. Residents double park. Everyone knows everyone else's car in case someone who is blocked in needs to get out. Ideally, members of the same household block each other in.

It's like anything else, once every 2 or 3 months can't possibly hurt you. Then throw in some cheesecake while you're at it.

Absolutely. I think they have cheesecake there, if I'm not mistaken, Another reason Popeye's is A-OK.
