Unmarked Conti Grand Prix 4000SII?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Unmarked Conti Grand Prix 4000SII?

I rode my son's aluminum trek road bike. I could not believe how much faster it was than any bike I had ridden. It's been 30 years since I had a bike, and now that I have one, especially because it is so awesome, I feel like a kid again.

I bought my bike used from a guy in Hawaii on ebay. It's a ridiculously good bike, but the tires are old. I found a place online where I could get two Continental Grand Prix 4000 SII tires plus two contiinental tubes for 60 bucks. The tires came in authentic-looking boxes with instructions in must be 50 languages. There are a few markings on the tires, but there is no mark whatsoever on the tire with any form of "grand", "prix" "4000", or "SII".

Can these possibly be legitimate?

As I understand it, the GP4ksII version in "Reflex" - ie. there's a grey reflective stripe that goes all around the tire, has no wordmark logos.

Thank you for Taking time to answer.

There is lettering on the tires but nothing at all indicating the type of tire. The lettering gives the size, and a web address that is connected to Continental tires. The lettering could just as well have included an indication of the model number or some other for sure message that takes the guesswork out of knowing the type of tire. It' not like Conti makes only one kind of tire. No indication of which model tire it is from among all the tires they make. For all I can tell, these tires Conti did not want their name on but then somebody got ahold of them cheap and that is why I got what would have been a good price.

I don't mind admitting that it seems ultra weird that the company making possibly the most popular tire over several years would not bother marking it to distinguish it from their other, often.

How is a person to identify the tire when it's unmarked.

If that is what they do, OK.

No one likes being a sucker and I am interested in knowing for sure that it is normal for these tires to be unmarked.
