Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

"Chasing Lance" Producer

I am the Executive Producer of FitTV's "Chasing Lance" and want to thank everyone who has watched the shows so far - "100 Days to the Tour" and "Hell of the North". We love to hear feedback, both good and bad, and hope that you keep it coming as the new shows hit air. As you can imagine we have spent a ton of time with the Discovery Cycling team over the past few months and hope that our viewers enjoy an unprecedented look at how the top team in cycling operates. We will also cover the team for the entire Tour and will show you what OLN can't...behind the scenes with Lance and his team. Look for 2-3 additional "Chasing Lance" shows in August on FitTV.

Starting next Monday night at 8PM through Friday night at 8PM, FitTV will air all 5 "Chasing Lance" episodes. The entire series will run back to back at 3pm on Saturday, July 3nd. On Sunday the 3rd, Discovery HD Theatre will premiere all of the shows in HD - truly a sight to be seen.

We encourage any and all feedback on our series. Please send us an email with your thoughts...

FitTV_Production@discovery.com

Thanks a lot.

I've only had a chance to see one episode because I did not know it was on TV.... I plan on watching all of the episodes because I really enjoyed watching the one I did. Thanks for posting the re-airing dates....

I've seen both of them, I just saw "Hell of the north" last night. I especially enjoyed seeing the bike warehouse and the stacks of aged tubulars. I will definantly be looking for the rest of the series.

I would love it if you would have it on one of the more accessible Discovery channels. I don't have FitTv, so I'll never see it.

Please?

All this stuff makes me crazy for the tour to start.

For those like me who don't get Fit TV, there is other Lance stuff on Discovery's other channels. Here's their complete schedule (main channel, Fit TV, etc.):

Oooooh ooooooooh...over here.....I have a question.

Do you need a good Producer? I've done over 500 National spots, 1000's of regional and local spots, many infomercials, corporate videos and documercials. I'm currently working with a tiny little agency called GSD&M out of Lance's home town in Austin.

I'd love to work on something I actually care about.

Just thought I'd ask.

Gawd, I wish I had OLN. But I am at least glad to have FitTV's programs. I will be watching next week and will let you know what I think then.

BTW: My wife watches (does) your fitness programs almost every day (especially Gilad). Keep up the good work.

Yeah, that was quite a scene. I'm glad to see the boys' bikes are being taken care of by such an expert.

Great shows so far. Here's some things I'd love to see in future episodes.

1) How many wheel sets, derailers, components, complete bikes, etc. are on hand for each rider at each race.
2) More detail on training techniques(weekly mileage/average speeds/ect), nutrition, individual vs. team coaching.
3) $ - How much are these guys making as a member of team? Are their contracts incentive laden based on performance similar to other professional athletes?
4) Data during actual rides - like you see on a car race. Show us an on screen computer linked to the rider detailing speed, cadence, HR, etc. We see Lance training in SoCal blowing uphill past everyone else. What's the hill grade, what gear is he running? That would be awesome to see.

Oh yes... ditto on Nashville Man's post... Those would be a cool things to get an idea of. I wondered about a few of those while I was watching. Cool show overall though. We watch it with the kids.

There are some good videos here
https://team.discovery.com/france2005...eogallery.html

The one about shoes said they made a gelcast of Lance's feet and made the shoes which weigh 11 ounces, I could probably ride faster with some of those myself...

Nashville Man those are great questions!

I wrote them an email saying that I wish their narrator would pronounce France properly, ie "Frahnce" (they pronounce Paris properly so it doesn't make sense). We already have to put up with the Americanized pronunciation from Bob Roll and it drives me crazy!

I watched the first one on FitTV, but now that I found out they're going to be on DiscoveryHD, I'm waiting to watch the rest of the episodes in HD on my 55" Philips TV.

Any chance DiscoveryHD will be doing a Tour recap after the completion of the Tour in HD? OLN is nice, but the video quality is crap (analog 4:3) compared to DiscoveryHD.

I would like to suggest pronouncing it "Tour DAY France", like Bob Roll.

Oh sure, rub it in. When I upgraded from a 14" to a 27", I thought it was a big deal. I gave the 14" to some friends thinking that they needed a TV. Turns out they have a bigger TV than us, and they just wanted it for the kitchen.

Jeez... i don't even think my cable provider (Comcast) offers FitTV in my area... Maybe I'll be able to find it on a torrent somewhere.

Hey thanks for the great job. I've very much enjoyed both broadcasts so far. I actually found out about the program at this message board. Very good stuff. The behind the scenes access is quite interesting. I was pulling for George in last night's episode!

It's great to give exposure to the other guys besides Lance.

I don't have OLN. I don't really have access to info on cycling racing and the racers. Watching your program gave me some background on the different guys. Definitely cool to see Lance, but also great to learn more about the entire team.

I'll be pulling for Team Discovery during the TDF!
