Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cute puppy.
the movie I saw today was A dog's way home. It was ok, the story needed work. It is based on a novel that I haven't read. I would guess the book is better.

Slow night, everyone must be scanning baseball-reference.com and marveling over the fact that the 1974 Pittsburgh Pirates played 31 games in July WITH the 3 day break for the all star game. That's because they had SIX scheduled doubleheaders. That's the baseball I grew up with.

Yes we are snowed in. Over an inch!

It’s enough that I will skip riding. Mrs datlas wants to see the Berthe Morisot exhibit at The Barnes which ends tomorrow so I will likely take one for the team and accompany her.

Five inches and falling steadily here. I’m going to start a pot of slow-cooker beans and wait for it to stop. We don’t have much actual area to shovel on our little semi-urban plot, but the intricacies of our landscaping mean that much of the snow has to be heaved over retaining walls or relayed through narrow passages to the street. Then, when the plow comes through, there’s the berm to deal with. I’m going to be happy about all the deadlifts I my wife did this year.

Five days off the bike now, and I have it in the hips and the knees upon awakening on this cold morning. I've pretty much decided to go out in long pants until the weather warms up some. Three more days with the sisters and then I'll get back at it.

We got 10.8" officially but it went up drastically south of me.

Awesome snow blower is on deck. As soon as it's daylight, it's rolling thunder snow blowing time.

Yes, we are. Lot of roads closed due to drifting. Might as well stare at the tube all day.

Several, including this one, which my wife found in her figurative stocking this holiday season.

Same here. The plows come through the alley behind the house, and as best I can tell they snow just gets piled up in font of our driveways. So the first round of shoveling consists of clearing the driveway so we can get out if we want to.

I did a short group ride on Zwift today. I lost my internet signal for a couple seconds twice during the ride and got dropped from the group. Fortunately I was able to dial it up to 400w for a few seconds and snap back once my power was no longer zero.
