All of our frequently used/long burning lights are now LED at home and on the boat, but no Internet of Stuff for us, thanks.

The sun finally came out today and I'd been waiting on some good light so that I could photograph a lens and list it on Craigslist. So yeah, I did that this morning. Then I decided that it'd be a good day to run over to the LCS and have them take a look at a different lens that need servicing. Since I was going anyway, I decided to bring the For Sale lens with me to see if they'd offer me something respectable. They ended up buying it for more than I'd intended to list it at on CL, which was awesome, but also rendered the morning photo session pointless. So I'm going to post a photo here so that it doesn't go to waste.

Slow day, everybody must be out looking for Snowy Owls.
Every winter it's the same thing, trying to capture a good shot of a Snowy. I got one shot one day last year (below) but it's not particularly exciting, just a ball of feathers sitting there napping. The rest of the winter - nothing.
Tuesday I made a 100 mile trip to a spot on Long Island favored by owls. An owl or two had consistently been spotted in the area at least 9 out of 10 days recently so I figured the odds were in my favor. No dice. I spent two days down there roaming around Jones Beach, nobody could find him, not even Jones. I returned home last night, foiled again! I take a look at the reports today and sure enough, there have been multiple sightings today exactly where I hiked yesterday. C'mon man, that CAN'T be an accident, for some reason they just want to mess with me.

I have also been a tracking fool. Weight weeny budget build, and the levers got here today. Somehow, I wired it all correctly, and everything works. I'm just waiting on the brakes (breaks), which have shipped from Shenzhen, and who knows when they'll get here. They're on a plane, at least! Team kit also shipped, which is pretty cool. Cuore must like us.

Last day of the work week here. At least I am still able to appreciate that routine, seeing I am heading back to limited hours at work in just over week.
Yesterday, my psychologist sent a copy of her assessment of me to both me and my hospital doctor whom I see next week. Overall, nicely positive with a few things to note and to continue recovery.
95% of all medical staff (and Machka) have been incredibly helpful and supportive of me... and in some ways I have had them note I have made an amazing recovery. That is so important to me. Well, still being alive is the most outstanding.

Right. I had to google those devices. I'll stick to dumb lights thank you very much. I don't want a "smart" speaker monitoring my every sound for some big corporation to market adverts to. I don't need to have voice activated anything. Switches in the rooms I'm in work just find and dandy.
Oh and even seeds is more advanced than me: I'm only starting to replace incandescent lights with LEDs...

Talking to a virtual assistant to have it light up rooms doesn't get me excited, but not having to do circuits of the rooms, manually turning a half a dozen lights on and off, each morning and each night, would be one of those disproportionate little quality of life improvements. And having lights pop on automatically when getting home after dark with an armful of stuff and two overly-tired kids would be a really nice change, too - there's no light switch inside the front door. Those odd instances of getting up in the middle of the night would be nicer, too - no fumbling for lamp switches, the motion detectors would pop on the lights, appropriately dimmed, so as to not blind me, and then they'd turn off on their own accord, 60 seconds after I leave the room. Having the whole system mimic our lighting habits while we're out of town would be nice burglary deterrent, too.

It's one I picked up not long ago. It was a deal, and I figured if I'm losing weight, my bike can too. I'll post it up there when done, for sure. The 750 gram frame was just too aggressive, so I went with the 840 gram jobbie. So far, I like it.

840g? Woof. It wasn't that long ago that getting a frame under 1kg was an accomplishment.

We built our current house, new, four years ago. In my workshop I installed a receptacle every four feet, at workbench height. I have had quite enough of entire rooms with one or two receptacles. My lovely wife thought I was nuts and, as a result, has multiple octopi and extension cords running throughout her office.
In other news, I installed the drive belt on the shredder, with its new 7" pulley, and it can now eat right through the banana leaves which were too tough for the 4" pulley.

Regarding LED bulbs which are supposed to last a long, long time: I've already replaced two in our new house.
