Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I live in a subdivision that is basically a rectangle with a street down the middle with less than 50 houses. Only one way in and out. A beer delivery truck just went by driving slowly like he was looking for an address. Wonder who's having a party and I didn't get invited.

Big quality range. I have found that the cheapo ones from Amazon suck more or less uniformly, but there are quality control issues even with name brand products. Also, the fine print talks a lot about heat build-up and the packaging on half the reflector lamps I've bought says NOT to use them in recessed fixtures.

'morning, Addicts. Both of my shipments are on the truck, out for delivery. Time to stop mashing F5 and open the curtains so that I can obsessively glance outside every time I hear a truck go by.

So, my wife uses the overhead range light that’s in the microwave for a night light and it burned out. I drive to the hardware store, Lowe’s, Menards, etc. and finally to one of those battery stores that has it. Why do manufacturers use something so hard to buy?

Howdy. Just booked tickets to fly down to Florida for the Sebring 12 Hours in March. Excitement level 9.8/10. The really cool thing is that the World Endurance Championship (the P1 cars that race at Le Mans) are also racing that weekend at Sebring, so it's basically 2 big races for the price of one. And twice the beer consumption while walking about with friends. Gonna be exciting.

Now, in true WhyFi fashion, I have to figure out my best lens option for the 10,000 photos I plan to take that no one will ever see. Camera nerd life.

We got a nuisance snowfall overnight, about 1 inch. I am askeered that the roads will stay wet today and freeze tonight, putting Saturday's club ride on ice. Sad.

Appliance lamp. Exotic!

One good side effect of the internet, however, is the ability to find parts online and finally to be able to fix "white goods" without losing half a day of work and paying 150 bucks to some guy in a van.

I think it's a safe bet. Sunday is supposed to be the crazy day. "Flash freeze" they are calling it.

Sunday for us is going to be a high of 56 with steady rain, and then it's going to drop to 15 degrees overnight. What could possibly go wrong with our roadways?

HEY!!! *I'll* look at them... on my 5" phone screen via Instagram and their 1080 pixel width limit. If that's not a good reason to rent a 400mm f/2.8L, I don't know what is.

Amazon.mx has come around so much in recent months, that it's like it was back in the 90s. Suddenly, things that I could never hope to come up with, are delivered to the door at a reasonable price. There's a word here, which I cannot come up with. Lastima. I'll just leave this here.

Ohhhhh! Speaking of firing off 10,000 frames, I picked up and fondled a Sony A9 the other day. Hoe. Lee. Shiitake. Mushrooms. It'll shoot 20 frames per second with a buffer that'll handle 240 continuous shots. All without blacking out the screen/viewfinder - there's just a little black frame that flickers around the outside of the image every time it takes a capture. It's like some video game ridiculousness. In the awesome way.

I had one of those weird rambling detailed dreams last night: it was Friday, had finally stopped raining in LA, and the main event of my day was to go out and work with Puppy Love on the frozen dead rabbit that I have recently obtained. But first I decided to ride my TT bike to the beach. Since I don’t live near the beach, this took quite some time. Then at the beach, I came upon @Machka there, she was playing beach volleyball. I was very surprised by seeing her, but in the dream it turned out that she and @Rowan had moved to Laguna Beach. We chatted for awhile and then someone wanted to take a group volleyball pic and they wanted me in it. By now the sun was starting to set and I walked @Machka to her car, then realized I didn’t have my TT bike and was in something of a panic looking for it. And also frustrated because I had frittered away my entire Friday and never got Puppy Love out to work the dead frozen rabbit. Lol.

So I woke up very relieved that it was still Friday morning, I still had the entire day ahead of me to work Puppy Love on the frozen dead rabbit that I really do have. No plans to ride any bike today. And yes, after 4 days of rain, it has finally stopped raining in LA.

Also: I got a “promotion” at work this week. Not really, because it doesn’t involve me getting paid more. New title though, officially the head of my department. Mostly it sounds like I have to go to more meetings now.
