Addiction LXXIII

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wife's partners are having a dinner tomorrow to welcome a new one. Good restaurant, but not quite as interesting as that one.

Not a lot of vegan options. Sad!

1. Brisk 35 mile coffee ride today, mega damp and ave temp 34F. My fingers were numb until I wrapped em around a warm latte mug. 😁

2. Made dark chocolate peanut butter. Mmm.

3. Six squirrel walk with Puppy Love. She was all atwitter.

4. Dinner and wine later with friends.

5. Field Trial tomorrow. And Sunday.

It always seems weird to me that people cram in all of these holiday parties in December - to the point where you have to decline some of them because of the scheduling conflicts. And then you get into Jan or Feb, and there is not much going on at all. In some ways it would make more sense to have a delayed holiday party in late Jan when everyone has been cooped up indoors for a month or so, and there aren't many parties planned. And Super Bowl doesn't count.

For the record, I think vegans/vegetarians taste good, especially cows.

Speaking of vegetables, my wife asked me if there was anything that I needed at the grocery store. I told her to pick up some kohlrabi and she came home with bok choy.

What were you intending to do with kohlrabi?

I generally just slice it up and eat it raw. I have cooked it but prefer to eat it like a snack.

Whoa, healthy!

We get it once or or twice a season from our CSA and I have tried various things, the best of which is cutting it up into fat matchsticks, roasting the dog **** out of it in the convection oven, and serving over pasta with garlic oil and Parmesan. Always looking for ideas.

A wise man once said something like, "did anyone ever say this steak is fantastic, it tastes just like a carrot."

Dennis T is that wise man. Just don't let him near power tools or sharp objects.

You do cool things in cool places, and if I didn't have my awesome shovel and awesome Marigold jacket I would be envious.

Going to start a little work now so I have the afternoon free. Going to rain all weekend so I will have a chance to do different things.

Starting off the day right:

It’s cold and dark, but the flesh must be mortified and it’s not snowing. Perhaps the scenic and gravelly MUP by the river...
