Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

There’s one I keep opening by accident, because of the clunky way the page loads on the iPad.

That's not all you lack, but a good start to a long list.
I suggest an awesome shovel or awesome Marigold jacket. Look what it has done for me.

30-something women tell me I look great, I am hip with my update-to-date taste in the fresh new music and am the envy of those who wish they had an awesome shovel.

Remember I posted a few weeks back that Puppy Love rocked it in a Hunt Performance Test in a pack of mini wirehaired doxies? Well the way the scoring goes is that you learn pass/fail right there in the field then they mail you a copy of the judges’ scoresheet with all the details on it.

The dogs are judged on a number of hunting attributes, on a scale from 1-10, with 10 being the best. To get a PASS, the dog has to score at least 5 in each category from each judge, and also get an average score across all three judges of at least 6, and also demonstrate a lack of gun shyness.

Puppy Love’s scores:
Ability to find (searching)- 8 from each judge
Use of voice- 8 from each judge
Line ability- 9 from each judge
Adaptability- 9 from each judge
Determination- two 10’s and a 9
Gun shyness- Pass x 3

Wow that’s even better than I realized!

❤️

Back from the mini vacay to learn that our longtime worker has attempted to pull the wool over the eyes of the "stupid in these types of things" woman of the house, with his pricing, and also quite likely has committed our first actual theft, in all our years here. We will not mention the theft, directly, and I will confront him on his pricing, and tell him we can no longer afford to hire him. We already pay more that anybody else, and now he has lost out on that. People see an opportunity and jump, without thinking things through.

In other news, we awoke to our coldest morning in a month. Refreshing.
And we are entering into house guest time, for the rest of the month. It will throw a wrench into the cycling schedule. Se la vie.
Yesterday, in the cenote, I had a wonderful, philosophical/political discussion with a Frenchman, in Spanish. I will return to that cenote. The nicest, most private one I've visited.
There was also a woman there who leads bike tours of the area. During our time there, there were never more than five people there at a time, and everyone a treat to talk to.

This came around on Facebook this morning. Vintage '93 or '94. Cannot remember if I posted this here before. Enjoy the laugh.

Upon further reflection, it had to be later since our team had those jersey that early. I'll date it between '95 and '98.

Speaking of vintage pics, somewhere I have a picture of me riding to the top of Sandia Crest, NM...circa 1988. I will have to dig it up and post it.
