Well, howdy, LC - good to hear from you. You still cross my mind every time we stop off at Tamarack. Speaking of which, we'll be passing through and spending the night in Charleston in a couple weeks, on the way to visit the in-laws in VA.

Last weekend, during my trip to Virginia Beach, I toured the U.S.S. Wisconsin and took the boat tour of the naval and port facilities in the area. Hard to make out, but the vessel with stern facing the camera is the destroyer U.S.S. Bainbridge, which helped rescue Captain Phillips. It was portrayed in the film by its sister ship Truxtun.

Those are parts of the visitor center buildings buried in snow. Back in 2000 I rode up in a cold rain. A ranger invited me into the break room, where she had a nice fire going. We started talking. One thing led to another and...
she offered me some newspaper from their stash so I could line my clothing for the chilly descent back to camp.

Sounds like quite an adventure, @LowCel. Good job on the weight loss, and getting back to it!

Yeah, I was looking at one of those a little while back. When I need (or "need") a new helmet, I'll try on one of these Bontragers. If it fits, cool. If not, it'll be a Spec with Angi (or whatever their acronym). The one thing that kinda miffs me about the Spec sensor is that it's subscription-based. ****, I hate subscription-based software and now there's subscription-based helmets?! Dude.

Way cool. The rain was something, and certainly not the norm for Sebring. The gals put on a decent showing.

@MoAlpha. I’ve seen many hand trikes in the San Antonio area due to the military amputee facility there. We rode a 40 miler one day with a large group of them. They’re not slow. Very aero.

It was steady rain but not particularly heavy, so we were able to walk around in rain jackets without too much issue, and it cleared at about 1 pm. Actually much better light for photos and it beats walking around in 90 degree heat.
I went for the first time in '99, and the winner that year, a BMW prototype, is now in the track's museum. Made me feel nostalgic.

Very cool. I trained in an “arm bike” at the gym when I was rehabbing my neck. Not easy to get much heart rate going.

Track announcers said it was the 2nd rain-affected race in the last 22 years

I'm glad it didn't mess with you too bad. Starting under a rain caution kind of sucked, but I'm glad they did. Gentlemen drivers needed to get their time in so the boys could race... I hope you had a good time, and each time they showed the infield, I thought of you, and was envious, to say the least. Full house, and I bet it was rockin'
Funny. You talk about nostalgic. We saw all the inaugural races at Ontario, be it Sportsman, Winston Cup, or Indy cars, and went a couple more times after, including that weirdo battle of the nations thing where they raced F1 and F5000 together. Come to find out Bandimere Speedway bought a bunch of Ontario's seating when they tore it down, and for all I know, I could be sitting in the same exact seat, in two different states, at two different tracks.

Nice!!! He’s a rare legitimate hero in a world of fakes. They had his Daytona car on display in the BMW paddock, but sadly they didn’t have him on either race entry last weekend. The two page photo in Sports Illustrated of his accident still haunts me, and the story of the medical crew that saved him is pretty inspiring.

I had a colonoscopy a few years ago - the worst part was dealing with the insurance company afterwards.
