Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Do it and report back. We like graphs and spreadsheets. Above all else, enjoy your ride.

Wow it’s really windy out here. No way I am riding outside. Will try for tomorrow. Mrs datlas has plenty of chores to keep me busy today. First stop: Home Depot.

Mine does. I had a ride with a friend this week that was like 63 average power.

A "ride with a friend." Uh huh. blame it on the friend.

Damn it. Going to go for a ride, but I'm trying to eek out a few more degrees before I set out. Currently 26°, hoping it'll get above freezing within an hour or so.

It's the order of magnitude that was shocking. In the case of pompano, which is wild caught, it's not a situation of selling fish that is farmed in a more healthy and environmentally friendly way and thus costs more.

I’m going to try and take our tandem out this afternoon. If we succeed, it will be my wife’s first two-wheel ride since the middle of September 2018. So far, she has thwarted every attempt to get her up on two-wheels. After breaking nearly 25 bones in two years, she is deathly afraid of falling. I can sympathize but I hate to see an avid cyclist of 36 years be too scared to get back on the”horse.”

I've been drinking considerably more coffee lately. Having that second cup(instant) almost every morning. Then a couple more throughout the day. What I really need is more sleep, but the month of March won't allow it. Visitors and honey dos.

Lolwtfbbq. Fitbit's calorie tracker looks at your exercise trend/calorie burn, compares it to the calories already consumed for the day and it gives you a budget to remain on-goal for the day (I have a daily goal of a 750 cal deficit). I just got back from a ride, and it's currently telling me that I have about 4,600 calories left in my budget for the day. Should I believe the hype and go eat a whole pecan pie? Or should I play it a little more conservatively?
