Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pretty much spectacular. But, I feel like picking a few nits. I am not a fan of the stem spacers on these newfangled hidden cable setups. If you’re gonna ride one of these things, you gotta slam that stem. It should be noted that I think stems should always be slammed in cases in which only aesthetics are considered. To hell with comfort and ergonomics. On an even less significant note, I need those sweet stars on the bar tape to match that gold paint on the frame. Since you posted in this particular thread, I infer your desire for feedback. That is one sweet ride.

Zatopek, love the feedback!

I'm with you on the stars. When I bought the bike, the paint color on the frame is listed as "Decon Green" so I ordered Supacaz tape with green accents. The paint looks different from different angles, but I think it looks more gold or yellow than it does green. I have some Supacaz tape with gold accents on the way!

As for slamming the stem, I'm not the most flexible, but challenge accepted. I may have to pull the spacers and see how I hold up for a couple rides.

I wouldn't change a thing, especially the bar tape. Everything looks great on this bike. Although I'm also not fan of stacked aero spacers, can't really fault the rider since that seems to be the trend of almost every aero carbon bike frame in the last couple of years. Otherwise, still a HOT bike.

Hot!! Literally, the ONLY bike that I have ever thought looked good with tanwall tires, well done!! It must be the gold that makes the tanwalls work for me, not sure. I absolutely hate them on every other bike I've seen. lol

Minor point deduction for crank in wrong position and not in the big ring.

Thanks Rides4Beer!

Minor point deduction? I think I should be hit a lot harder than that. I'm calling a major point deduction. I just had to replace my chain and the only thing my LBS had in stock was a gold chain. I'll repost a pic soon with the new bling and the crank in the proper position and the chain on the big ring! Thanks man.

Not to mention leaving the seat bag on. Although that is the tidiest one I've seen.

Plenty Hot. I like it a lot. I also am impressed with the seat bag, but don't ever stage your bike improperly again.

Nothing wrong with a gold chain . Just about every bike I've built up for the last 10 years has been with KMC's X11SL gold or DLC black chains. Even my Ridley Noah and De Rosa many years ago had gold Recon cassettes.

Yeah, hard to pick on this one - it's $&@#ing beautiful. But, I'll try ;-)
- Not feeling the stars - in any color. That bike needs NO decoration.
- Those spacers, but I get it
- Better aligned tire/stem (wow, we're an anal bunch)
For the pics:
- Big ring
- No bag
- Level crank arms or inline with chainstay; drive side forward
- Optional: Hide the valve stems behind a fork leg, seatstay; but those graphics on the wheels work just like you've got'em

Punch line: You killed it. Great build.

Good list, just noticed another thing, don't know how we all missed it, it's so terribly egregious that I may now be scarred for life. Valve stem caps.

Personally, I like valve stem caps. They keep the valve clean for pumps. They have to be matching something, though. If they were black it would be ok, but you are correct. Point deduction.

If you've gotta rock spacers, can't beat a 90 degree stem for looks. Of course, the mechanically ideal setup would be no spacers and whatever angle the stem needs to get to the bars, but that'd look like total arse.

But yeah, 90 degrees still manages to look good, and it means less spacer than a typical stem that isn't flipped.

Also, plus one it'd look better with plain black tape. Just let that mad paint job do all the talking. The tanwalls help it pop IMO, just a shame there isn't another splash of colour on the fork tips.

Do you use the horizontal section of the drops? Reckon it'd look pretty tight if you trimmed em off the bars.

Agreed, I use them on my gravel wheels to keep the dirt out, black on black tho.

That's a very good question, and one which I wish I would have asked.

I know the drive side is not facing outward, and the chain isn't in the largest ring... but that's what you get with a strider. We'll see how well this thing holds up against my son.
