They have been a part of Sidi’s line for maybe a decade and are, if I were guessing, Sidi’s most popular shoe.

I have ridden them, my wife has ridden them, both my kids have ridden them. I have marginally wide feet and can often go either way with Sidi’s (normal or mega). My wife and kids all have wide feet and need a shoe built for wide feet. So far, they are the only shoes any of them have been able to get to fit well. For reference, all of my family membes are serious cyclists and do long distance riding or tri’s or touring or some combination of all of those.

I can tell you from personal experience, that the Sidi dominator sole may not be carbon, but it is plenty stiff. In point of fact, it’s hard for me to tell the difference between the stiffness of the the Dominator and my other carbon soled Sidi’s, but I can tell the difference and feel that it is slightly less stiff - slightly. But I would not say it matters in actual riding.

The velcro straps work great or tightening the shoes in the forebody. The Sidi ratchet strap is tried and true, has easily replaceable parts and has a great cushioning design to prevent undo pressure on the top of your foot when it’s tight. It can be easily adjusted either tighter or looser while you are riding - unlike many other ratchet style shoes that can tightened or only completely loosened. It’s an old system, but it’s a very well designed, usable, durable and maintainable system.

Sidi’s, like many shoes, have pretty flat footed insoles. Do plan on replaing them (as you should with pretty much most shoes) with high quality ones that properly support your feet if you have any arches at all.

The Dominators are good shoes, if not great ones. If you have a wide foot, I’d highly recommend them.

I would guess that’s just about right. I wear a
D or E width. The Dominators were a touch too wide for me. So I’m guessing a true E is just about right.

Here’s another tip - Sidi uses the same sole length for the full size and its half size. The half size gets a bit higher volume upper. So, for example, if you got a 44 and it was a bit tight, the 44.5 is the same sole but more volume. Sidi has a whole section on fitting the shoe on their website last time I checked.

Also, you can tweak the fit considerably by playing with insoles. Often times people think a shoe fits fine sitting in their living room but once they go out in the bike and start pressuring it while pedaling, it then feels too small. This happens because the foot is sliding around in the shoe under pressure. The way to stop that is insoles with appropriate height arches that anchor the foot in place. you can also take up space or make space by using different thickness insoles. I use the SOLE ones because I can mold them with a heat gun and because they come in three different thicknesses.

The specialized insoles are a good choice in my experience. They also have a tool that helps you decide on the right arch height if you have a hard time figuring that out. They don’t come in different thicknesses though which limits choices.

Another great brand of insole are the IceBug ones. They have a thin and a thick version. The thin is really thin and can work well if there are issues with foot volume. But best for me at least is that they support both arches on the foot with the typical main arch in the instep but also with a bump under the metatarsal arch in the front of the foot. This can be a real help if you suffer from Morton’s neuroma of other hot spots up front in your foot. The more structure you apply to your foot to support it, the more anchored your foot will be on the shoe.
