KMC Missing Link doesn’t fit on new Campy chain?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

KMC Missing Link doesn’t fit on new Campy chain?

Just got a new Record chain, and tried my trusty missing links (fit fine on the previous Campy chains). Same links don’t fit on the new chain.

Did Campy make the pins smaller? Are there updated links that will fit?

I joined a Campy chain with a kmc link recently. No problem. AFAIK, all brands follow the same basic dimensions. I prefer wipperman links, but they are pricey.

I just put a KMC missing link on a Veloce 10 speed chain. It's easier to do if you take the chain off the chainrings so it isn't under tension.

KMC Missing Links come in different sizes for different chains. From the KMC FAQ:

IS KMC MISSING LINK COMPATIBLE WITH SHIMANO CHAIN, SRAM CHAIN, OR CAMPY CHAIN?Yes, KMC constructs Missing Link I, II, 9, and 10 for 7.3mm, 7.1mm, 6.6mm, and 5.9mm respectively; all Missing Links are compatible with Sram, Shimano, and Campy equivalent chains.
My 7-speed and 8-speed bikes take 7.1mm or 7.3mm Missing Links depending on the chain. They aren't interchangeable -- I've tried 'em and the quick links must match the chain widths. I've settled on Z51 and Z72 chains and Missing Link II to minimize compatibility problems.

My KMC links work fine with my Campy Record 11sp. chain.

Do you have the right size link?

Per KMC's shopping site, the reusable version (CL555R) is not compatible with Campy, while the non-reusable is (CL555).
Any chance you mistakenly bought a 12S Record chain?

I literally took the KMC 11 speed link off my old 11 speed chain, and the pin wouldn’t fit into the new chains’ link.

It's all about the sizing.

I’m an idiot! I followed Campy instructions to leave one outer and one inner link. Duh! The Missing link IS an outer link! No wonder it didn’t fit.
