Wheel sensors
A wheel sensor lets the GPS computer know when I've stopped. Otherwise, the ride recording can show a random drift path around my stopping point. And it's a little more accurate on road speed, too. (My old Garmin can auto adjust the wheel size for the sensor, it's pretty accurate.) A wheel sensor is nice to have, but not required.

GPS accuracy:
Here's an example, with the outbound ride heading north, uphill. Then the return is downhill with a right hand turn. You can see which side of the road I was on.
Each dot is a recorded point at one-per-second intervals, closer together uphill, of course. 10 mph is about 14 feet per second.

Some of the android phones have a battery saving feature that when the phone goes into sleep mode it shuts the GPS off. Mine does this and then Strava doesn't record correctly. The battery saving feature needs to be turned off in order for strava to record accurately on my phone.

I don't use Strava for bike rides anymore, only for hiking around. I have a Lezyne Super GPS bike computer. When I'm done with my ride the bike computer syncs to the Lezyne App and uploads the data to Strava.

Garmin...Wahoo...Too much $$$ in my opinion.

Look at the Lezyne or Bryton products. More bang for your $$$ and the battery life exceeds anything from Garmin or Wahoo.

You have your speedo setup incorrectly. You really thought you road 46 miles?:roflmao2::lol:

His devices are set up properly.

I live near and ride with bonsai171. We have ridden this loop together and these are part of our regular routes. It recorded only half the loop. This is his actual Strava track from the ride.

My guess is that Strava stopped recording.
