Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just wondering.
It's a new car and I have to go there to keep the warranty up. And, with the used cars we've had, I can't say that I've found a (certified) mechanic that I can stick with indefinitely. Eventually, they all begin to take advantage. The little mechanic in my little village is fully reliable, but Honda wouldn't accept that for warranty work. I don't know that they would accept anybody besides themselves for such work. This is the first new car we've had since the very early nineties, and I am unfamiliar with how these warranty things work, normally.
The second work mentioned was cutting and programming a new key. I've since found out that can be done independently.

I have one bag which I use for all bikes. Only a couple of them require me to take different tubes.

In the States proof of periodic oil changes and other required regular maintenance via receipts from any reasonable vendor is all that is required to stay in good stead regarding the manufacturer's warranty. Are there no chain oil change providers where you are?

None. We operate on a different system entirely. Incomprehensible to many in the developed world. If I buy something at Home Depot on the West side, I cannot return it to the one in the North. If I have a bank account at one branch of a bank, I need to start from scratch at another branch. And on and on. Machismo is god.

Today was slated to be the day I got back on the bike. But, alas, it is rainy and cold. If I had a rain jacket I might go out anyway. But my rain jacket is being held captive by FedEx in Merida. Time after time after time, The package arrives in Merida and then sits there for a week. It takes as long to go the last 25 km as it takes to go across the country.

It may sound like I'm whinging. I am not. I continue to be amazed at the incomprehensibility of it all.

Grrrr. I'm looking at the forecast for tomorrow and it's looking like 32° in the morning. Funnily, I've had enough of the cold morning rides while in VA, so I'm thinking about setting up the trainer again. I'll have to move the cassette back over to the trainer wheel (it doesn't look like anyone has a 12-25t in stock locally), but TR just ran my credit card for the month, so I might as well... oh, and there's also the possibility of significant snow on Thurs/Fri, so I might be a trainer-bound weekend, anyway.

Supposed t be 97° here today. I'd better get out for a ride before it gets too hot. I'm kinda whining but I should save proper whining for 108°+

I'm whining about the fact that it's supposed to be clear on Sunday, but cold (too cold for my fingers), and thunderstorming on Saturday for the Red Poppy Ride.

Nicest weather of the year in a Houston today. Great ride at 70°F. Little wind. I’m pumped about riding for the first time in a long while.
