Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Don't know what he does, but off the court he's sometimes seen at the Whole Foods 'round my way. Saw him there over the winter with Jenner's kid, who he is/was dating. After I saw him I was talking to some guy I know who was at the bar for happy hour. I joked that I heard Simmons ask a Whole Foods employee in what aisle he could find the jump shots.
That kid worries me. I’ve seen stoic before but he’s downright ghostly. After the buzzer beater yesterday I watched him as he walked away, all calm and emotionless. Sure he maybe was in shock as everyone else was at first, but he’s ALWAYS that way. Lol

Also if he had stayed with Leonard and double teamed the shot, who knows, it might have made a difference. Maybe.

Maybe get some genealogy done while you’re there.

Born in Australia to a father who was very highly regarded in the national basketball player system. Now the kid gets quite a bit of coverage in the national Australian media because of that connection, but there does seem to be some strangeness to it all.

**** the Sixers. They tanked games for years, just to get good draft picks.

This sport is getting too damn expensive. My Quarq crankset died so now I have to buy a new one. Too much money.

Pitch the power meter crap and buy Shimano 105 stuff. It's quite good and good value.

Power2Max are spider-based meters that start at $450, if your existing crankset is compatible (mine wasn't, so I added a ROTOR crankset for an additional $150).

I finally drank the Kool Aid and got a Garmin (the 130) and even with that I have it running to show the route schematic, no MPH/HR/RPM data.

I have a PM on one machine and for me, it’s strictly mental candy at this point. I use it for nothing.

I mostly look at cadence out on the road, especially on hills, 'cause I'm bad at counting. I only really look at elapsed time during CX races, so I know how much more suffering remains.

I had one for a season. I couldn't commit to the PM Lifestyle, so I traded it for a smart trainer.

I bought my next five year supply of wool socks yesterday, and promptly rode through cold rain on a day when none was predicted. Twice I rode through cold rain and my feet remained warm, if not dry. I find myself marvelling that I haven't gotten sick, as wet and cold as I've been on this trip.

I have never actually used a cadence device. I think my "natural" cadence is about 90-95, a little slower maybe 80-85 on the hills. Most research on cadence does say higher is better, but the BEST is your natural cadence. Works for me.

I know this is heresy in some circles to go by "feel" rather than speed/power/cadence/HR but that's my story and I am sticking to it!!

Speaking of cadence, another cyclist expressed interest in a new, larger crankset to avoid spinning out on a 50/11 combo on descents at ~35mph. Looking at gearing calcs, that works out to 100rpm. It just baffles my mind that someone a) considers that "spinning out" and b) that their first inclination is to change their equipment rather than doing a smidge of work to be comfortable at a cadence that's not terribly unusual during a typical ride.
