That's the "easy" way. Coming from PA 895 is known as the Dark Side. I have never been up it, but people I know who have done it say it's brutal. Shame you are not riding Mountain Rd. between Wanamakers and Hawk Mountain Rd. at mile 59 of your map. It's really pretty back there. The BCP used to have a club ride from the T-Town swap meet to Hawk Mountain that went that way.
To make it one day, we have to start closer to the destination, which is what we are doing starting in Pottstown.

There's no harm in driving to a ride start. I used to lead a lot of rides from Hunterdon County in NJ. Would start at Lambertville, Bulls Island and even Frenchtown. I hate doing the same old roads over and over again.

The cable lock I've owned for 25 years didn't make the cut. Neither did the rims, tires, front panniers( the gifter wasn't sure they would last the two days I needed them for). The three folding tires and two new in box innertubes went into my personal item, along with the two saddles and the new helmet, which were already there. Are innertubes allowed in carry on?

I agree 100%. Issue is that 90% of my rides are club/group rides (something that we differ on as you seem to go mostly solo) and most of my clubmates prefer a start in West Chester or as close as possible. So it's a compromise.

Why does everyone seem to think the rubber on the tire is structural? Just because there are cracks or deformities in the tread/rubber does NOT mean the tire is at risk of imminent asplosion.
