Woke up early this morning, at about 5:30 (sans alarm), and took the opportunity enjoy the quiet house, sipping my coffee and putting the new knife to the sharpening stones.
The kids have been getting up so early, lately, that these moments are rare. My wife and I have voiced our displeasure with their early rise times, so my boy, when he appeared downstairs, was beaming with pride. "What did you think about that, dad? Did we sleep in well today?"
"Well... this is definitely better, but another 30 minutes or so would have been nice."
"What?! But we didn't even get up until, like, 6:36!"
Gee, kid, thanks for the generosity.

Also, I've got a pineapple just waiting to be sliced and diced. Should be fun.
Guac prep last night was great. The out-of-the-box edge wasn't quite as good as what's on my knives, but it still went though food much more easily - I guess that that's why the knife nerds are always talking about blade and grind geometry.

Did a very social ride/pub crawl yesterday. We started at the back of one craft brewery, rode to another. After sampling their wares we then rode to another craft brewery. After the appropriate amount of time we biked back to the original brewery to sample some more. Even with a brutally cold southerly robbing calories and energy there is no way in Hades I got anywhere close to a calorie deficit for the day.
Having a tasty raspberry wheat beer to start at the first brewery we stopped at.
I decided to go very C&V. The bike is approximately 100 years old.
And I finished off the ride with a milk stout and slice of mocha cheesecake.
