Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Have been chasing a creaking noise when seated, only occasionally on left power stroke.
This morning I found my saddle shell cracked at the peridium cut out.
Bought a new saddle for myself for Father's Day

Thank you, Sir. There will be pics. I could try to Strava the beat down Buzzards Bay on my phone. We’d probably own that segment for a while.

The first 24 hrs will be a slog, but fast. Later should be beautiful with a moderate sea state, but enough wind to keep moving well, sunny days, and moonlit nights. Might even be able to open some hatches to air out the stank and crack open a book on the off watch.

Shopping completed, bike is in Missoula, bags almost packed, electronics charged, cue sheets and notes prepared, hair cut, checked in for flight, cat litter changed, money left for cat sitter, takeoff is at 0610 tomorrow.

A woman I work with was ribbing me for being unshaven. I explained to her that I wait until the last minute because a sink, mirror and running hot water won't be the norm until later in the trip.

Glad to see it. I despise the Warriors, because the Rockets simply cannot beat them. But I was shocked when the Raptors let Game 5 slip away. Sad. Luckily it all worked out in the end.

We've had enough rain, in the last three days, to fill empty 5 gallon buckets to overflowing. Another storm is due this afternoon. After that the various weather services are not in complete agreement. Thankfully we are no longer in Merida, a very old city with very old, narrow streets and no storm sewers. Streets are not passable. Houses fill with water which has no place else to go. Not a fun time there.

My 11:45 cancelled so I was able to sneak out to Chipotle for carry-out lunch. I got a big bowl with sofritas and it's really good.

In other good news, there is a "Trek Factory Store" 3 doors down from Chipotle and I am on their mailing list, they emailed a "Father's Day Coupon" for $20 off any purchase. The Habanero has bar tape that is 10 years old so time for an update. I got Bontrager Supertack tape in "Sky Blue" the usual price is $30 so after tax/coupon it was $11.

Did I get a good buy??

I had two meals in a Chipotle while trapped in the airport all day. Somebody behind me ordered sofritas, but they were not on the menu. What, exactly, are they?
Sky blue tape? Sky blue anything a mi mi me gusta.

Yes, but you gave your money to evil Trek.

On the same subject, Breakaway Bikes on 19th & Chestnut sold out to Trek, but I hear Trek is going to keep the mechanics on. Probably want to stick with the "alt"/non-corporate vibe for we urban types.
