05 Giant OCR Composite 3 real carbon fiber frame?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

05 Giant OCR Composite 3 real carbon fiber frame?

I've been looking at several bikes, including the Giant OCR Composite 3. It's advertised as having a carbon frame. Is this the same "carbon" as the carbon fiber of much more expensive bikes? Any help you can give on this, any info, would be much appreciated.

Yup the frame is made of carbon fibre.. maybe my high school chemistry is deserting me but I think that you cant find amorphous carbon in nature... You can only find crystalline carbon such as diamonds and graphite etc... Carbon fibre is manufactured by a special process(very high temps, autoclaves) and is a workable form of carbon...

the OCR composite is no different than other composite frames out there

it is highly advanced construction - more advanced than you'll find in a Trek 5000/5200/5500 for example... Giant bicycles don't make anything with prefabed carbon tubing on alloy lugs thesedays (maybe in 1980s).
