ZIPP Service Course SL-70 Ergo Handlebar - high polish black

ZIPP Service Course 70 Ergo Handlebar - bead blast black

Is it only the weight and the finish? One is 6061 and the other is 7050 alloy.

Yes, SL is lighter and the finishes are different

35 gram difference between the two.....not much

Thanks.

The previous poster is correct.

I will add that those bars are my favorite shape currently. I have the CF version on my Domane, and couldn’t be happier with the shape.

My new bike came with round bars, and I have the FSA Omega flat top bars on my other bikes. I like the flat top, and I think that I will like the backward sweep too.

Not willing to spend for the CF though ;-)

6061 is a good basic marine grade aluminum.
7050 is a stronger (thus allowing thinner lighter) aluminum, but at least some of the 7xxx series aluminum is susceptible to corrosion.

I got a bit lost trying to quantify corrosion resistance between aluminum varieties. Apparently it also depends on the heat treating, tempering, and artificial aging of the aluminum.

Some people tend to be prone to corrosion issues, and some aren't. If you've noted pitting and corrosion in the past, then go to 6061, or carbon fiber. If not, perhaps the 7050.

I had Zipp SL-70 Aero drop bars on my bike that was stolen 4/15/18, and loved the way they looked. When I got the Domane, I thought a more traditional style bar would look better., so I went with the SL-70 carbon. I couldn't be happier.

I think the bars you are looking at have the exact same shape as the carbon version.

The 70 ergo's came stock on my Ridley. They 're nice bars, but I swapped them out for CF.

My only issue was they were twitchy in the drops, but that was probably my issue.

Do they have flat tops?

I would call it oval, not 100% flat. They definitely aren't round.

That's OK for me. Thanks.

Resurrecting this thread as I am in the market for bars am considering Zipp SL service course. As I am googling around, I am coming across bars with the designator B1. But I don’t find any explanation of that, nor is it ised on the Zipp website. Does anyone know what that refers to?

I'd call and ask Zipp
