Starting a build: My head is spinning

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So I picked up this frame last week (not here yet). I've been drooling, shopping, deliberating, researching and basically giving myself a good sized headache determining where to start with the build. Wheels? --Have to decide on Campy or Shimano. Cranks? Same thing. Handlebar? Have to feel a bunch (starting that today). My head it swirling and no aching with the overload of all the toys to research and purchase.

For what it's worth, I'm leaning towards an Ultegra-based drivetrain, but that may change after I check out the Campy shifters tonight (that and the existing ride is Ultegra. Part of me thinks I should change it up. But I like the Ultegra. Argh!)

Question is, where did you guys and gals start? Wheels? Drivetrain? Bar tape? [sigh] The pain of having fun, I guess....

edit: Woman in Charge just IM'd me saying the frame arrived. WHOOOOO!!!

You got a good deal on that frame, congrats!! I like that color too. I'd pick your components first, once you have that then go onto the wheels and build kit (bars, stem, seatpost, saddle) and then lastly, the bar tape... All the excitment that leads up to the first ride will be well worth it. Have fun!!

Drivetrain. But don't forget the importance of pink sparkley bar end streamers and the need to color co-ordinate.

The WomanInCharge mentioned streamers too! I will be asking for her assistance in the color coordination; bike's gotta look good, you know

Now to go hunt down an Ionic jersey...
