Lemond aluminum

I'm considering buying a 2005 Lemond Tourmalet which has an aluminum frame from eBay cause it's a triple and is a good deal.I love steel and would like to know what people think of Lemond aluminum and how it compares to Lemondsteel. Thanks!

All the specs for it if you haven't seen this yet. The 2000 aluminum frames seemed highly regarded but not sure about these.

Never ridden Lemond steel. My '06 Lemond Reno is 6066 aluminum and I have no complaints at all. It does have a carbon fork and seatpost which are supposed to cut down on vibration-as I've never ridden it with any other fork or seatpost, can't attest to this, but I don't get a lot of vibration through it.

How good a deal is a "good deal"?

the lemond steel i had for a few years was super smooth. had a 2002 bueno aires 853 reynolds frame and i miss it. sold it for $50 because i had n + too many at the time. nothing but regrets since it rode really nicely. had a carbon fork and full ultegra (which i’m still riding on a diff bike). definitely underrated.

Check the rear derailleur hanger. My brother had a LeMond, not sure of age but the hanger was built into the frame. During a ride, under stress it bent into the spokes. This could not be repaired because of the design.

right?! the only frame i've ever had that didn't have shimmy issues at high speeds.
hit 50+ mph many times without reservations or concern on that frame. so stable.
been reticent to even approach 45 mph since. hope it found a good/loving home.
