Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

First ride since the angina diagnosis. A different route--smaller, slower traffic, more local road, chipseal instead of asphalt, but other than that a very stressless ride. And shade part of the way. I nose-breathed the whole way and never left the small chainring. Since atorvastatin cannot be just stopped, I will decline to start until after all the tests are in and I've talked with the cardiologist and the cute gp. Perhaps I will one day be able to return to mouth-breathing and pedaling the big ring. But for the time being I will pretend to be an old man, and ride like old men are expected to ride.

Nope. It’s a protein that will be pretty much digested by your GI tract. Trust me, I know about such things.

That said, there ARE oral ESA’s (erythrocyte stimulating agents) under development so stay tuned.

Our ride was medium hot but super humid. Still was fun. Post ride I mowed the front.

Going to have family date tonight. Toy Story 4 followed by pizza.

Bummer. We have a basement. It’s always cool in the summer. Half is finished and half is storage/unfinished.

It hit 97 in my upstairs bedroom earlier this summer, I don't use AC, but I do use a recirculating fan. Was bad but not unbearable, since I was getting plenty of fresh air. Plus I'm in CA, so it was dry heat.

I like to embrace the heat rather than avoid it like most people do, and I think it helps me tolerate it better when out on the bike. Hardly ever have to pee, since I'm sweating all the time.

I’m more concerned about my mother. Luckily her sister lives about 20 minutes away.

It’s now 102 in the shade, and I’m fine with that.

HVAC repair people are the real heroes.

A/C is already repaired, and it's down to 91 degrees already

Mrs. rjones28 asked me to get her trike ready to sell. She's afraid she won't ride it, now that she has the e-bike. After I finished working on it, she rode it around and yard and decided to keep it.

My usual ride is about an hour or an hour-and-a-half, because of my schedule. Mileage varies with terrain.

I take two, Nexium and Lisinopril which I’m on a very low dose.

When I was 38, I started the Lisinopril at 40 mg and also hydrochlorothyazide. My blood pressure has been steadily dropping the last 10-15 years and my old doc first removed the water pill and then halved the Lisinopril five years ago. I run about 124/72 and often as low as 116 for a top number. I asked my new doc about stopping it altogether and she said, “Why? It’s working.”
