As long as we're sharing photos, here's my Seven set up for randonneuring with 2014 SR.
If you're going to spend the money on a titanium frame, you might as well spend the extra couple hundred bucks on campagnolo so there is no doubt in anyone's mind that you are a true connisour.

Now over 16 years old and still going strong. The upgrade to Ultegra 6800 helped a lot. Now that I'm older and heavier I may also opt for a Wolf Tooth Road Link and a bigger cog out back.

So I can see there is a definite following of Ti for old guys that like to keep their bike for years and years.
But I do not see how that relates to why a Pro would want one for racing on.

It is not that any material is better really, because you can get heavy, flexy, poorly handling bikes made out of any material.
You can also get lightweight, stiff, well handling bikes made out of these same materials.

Not hard to see a Ti meeting the weight point for UCI racing, so a wash there.
Best looking bikes in the peloton though.
