air valve

I just bought a trek 1200, but my pump doesn't fit on the schrader valve protruding from the tire. Do i need to buy a new pump, or just a special adapter?

They have little adapters. They cost about a buck.

What pump is it? Most of todays bike pumps can be switched from presta to schrader. Unscrew the cap on the end and flip around the pieces and it goes from one to the other.

Some pumps are convertible from Presta to Schrader by flipping the insert in the pump head. You might check owners manual or your pump company's website to see if yours has this feature.
