1996 Bianchi Build
Hello, just recently picked up a 1996 Veloce. Lugged, campy goodies, and most importantly celeste.
As I picked it up
Veloce Groupset all OG, except for the trek seatpost
First ride out in the Palouse
Unoriginal seatpost and saddle, (TREK from about 1994), saddle bag is now lost as of my ride today
protector is a big worn, want to get OEM but dont know where to find
This morning, I got new tires on it, and new bottle, but more parts coming in. Last picture I have of my saddle bag as it flew off at some point
Ripping through the palouse
I plan to use the bike for my half Ironman Training and use it in the race as well. I like to make life hard, not using carbon in an Ironman, but I will get stronger this way.
Unsure about the celeste sidewall tires, as I also have a Bianchi celeste saddling coming in, also new celeste bar tape which I will for sure get dirty in one day.\
She rides fast for a 9 speed. Got it up to 32 on the flats on the Chipman trail between Pullman and Moscow with little wind. Headwinds suck! Will update when I get some more parts in. Nice to work on a little bike when parts fit, unlike working on cars!

Too bad about the saddlebag. My oldest son had the same issue with a similar bag. Did you retrace your route?

Excellent old-school ride that brings back memories. When I got back into cycling in 1995/6, a number of the people I rode with had these. I was on a De Bernardi with 8 sp Athena DT shifting - didn't have the scratch for Ergo shifters. Absolutely keep the celeste sidewalls - my only concern would be being able to replace with new ones when the time comes. My current ride is a bare Ti Litespeed, so I color it up with yellow accents to go with the big LS logo - bar tape, cable housing, yellow/black Selle Italia saddle and yellow/black Rubino Pros. Once I'm about half way through the tires expected lifespan, I'll start looking for decent prices on replacement yellow tires - IMO the bike isn't decently dressed unless the tires fit with the overall color scheme.

Holy crap I love small towns. Someone turned in my saddle bag to the police station. I got my goodies back! Ripped out a nice 25 mile ride to celebrate

I switched out my stem/bars for Cinelli and found a Campy aero seat post. Somewhere down the line my fork was switched out for carbon.

It was actually this bike that got me into bikes at all. My dad’s boardwalk he got right around 2000 when we lived in Los Angeles. Countless rides on the strand in So Cal. Learned next to him while he rode this. Good memories

Looks correct I had the same bike, loved it but let it go. It was to big. If I ever find another one I'm buying it and I'll give it a modern update. Great bike rode like a dream. Really miss that thing.

If you ever change out the tires or bar tape, consider yellow. Celeste/yellow is great for that Marco Pantani look

Got new bar tape on the bike. Took it for a quick rip before the sun set. Next thing I do will probably be wheelset and tri bars for Ironman training. Need to get actual speed parts on it not just style point parts
been running a lot training for a half marathon in a couple months so haven’t been out a lot for rides. Also it’s getting cold in the Palouse. Snow in early October. Ouch. Indoor training will be another thing I need to get setup for.

Ordered some cool bar end caps for it and a new wheelset for it. Also got an indoor trainer for it as my half marathon is now 2 weeks away. I’m ready for that and will not transition into my Ironman training. Pics to come soon

Been a minute. No longer doing an Ironman race but I will still keep this bike around as I looked for one like this for years before this one came to me.
bar ends:
ordered some silver Mavics with original campagnolo veloce skewers and hubs
a more classical Bianchi look. Might try to run the Celeste tired but it sure is a lot more humble and less flashy without the Celeste sidewalls that scream “steal me i am an Italian classic”

Took the dirty daily Bianchi into the LBS for a new headset bearing rebuild. Derailer rebuild. Also got some fenders as I am selling my car and this will be my daily commuter to work and around town

Got this Bianchi from wife's coworker. Too small for me but wife was able to use it. Said it was a 1984 Sport. Dude wanted $40 (TO PUT TOWARD A WALLY WORLD MTB!!! 
). I gave him the $80 I had in my pocket. Big filthy mess but I was able to get it cleaned up. She loves the ride. Never heard the saying Steel is Real but after getting a full carbon roadie, she says the steel bike is a better ride. Had a few offers to sell it but she won't.
