Did you guys hear about the New Sworks Tarmac SL?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Read about it this morning on cn.com. Another entry into the "unless you get it for free and get paid for a bike you'll look like a poseur (which is fine in my book)" list.

Supposedly ligher and stiffer than the current S-Works Tarmac. Too rich for my blood.

It's a gorgeous bike, but when I hear the name, I can't help but think...

Specialized has their own wheelset now?!?

Am I the only one who thinks Specialized is spreading themselves too thin? Frames, saddles, tires, sunglasses, helmets, shoes, computers, lights, pumps etc, etc. is their anything they won't put their name on?

Kinda dilutes the brand, imho.

30 years ago a "bike company" might make and brand everything, but at the level of technology/innovation we're at today it would seem that specialization would be the key.

I think having certain parts designed "in house" lets them design something more specific to their purpose, especially something like this bike. I don't think they would end up doing this for all their bikes anyway.

I personally don't mind, but it's not like I could afford this bike anyway or put it to good use if I can.

"Levi Leipheimer who'll be riding a 895 gram Tarmac SL frame ..."

The Scott CR1 limited weighs 880 grams.
