Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Kudos.

BTW one of my friends did a massive gravel ride out your way, I think something crazy like 130 miles, this past weekend. I wonder if it was the same event you saw?

Yes, same event. Unpaved PA is called I think. I think I will give it a go next year, sounds like fun.

So what are the bestest, most fastestest, ligthest, most resistant, best bang for your buck gravel tires out there.

Schwalbe G-One All-around (I have them in both 35 and 38) are awesome around here. Super speedy on pavement and hard-packed gravel/dirt. Errbody has different gravel, though, so YMMV. If you have really hard and/or sharp gravel, I might shy away from them, as they're pretty supple and I'd be concerned about their durability (not that I've even had a single flat on one, so that concern might be unfounded). For the typical crushed limestone around here, though, they're great.

Same with my wife and me though it’s easier for me to ride hers rather than her mine due to the reach. I have a spare seat post with saddle so that I can ride her bike if need be.

I found a nice girl named Mary on today’s 66 miler. If my wife’s back doesn’t come around, this gal may be my new stoker.

Being the enabler that I am, I told her I fully supported that desire and that she should most definitely get a gravel bike. Two days later, I have ordered a Cannondale Topsoil for her. My guess is that she will use it twice, lose interest, and then I will inherit a gravel bike.
This one?
