Lake MX 237 Rubs Ankle Bone

Road Cycling It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle. -- Ernest Hemingway

Lake MX 237 Rubs Ankle Bone

I have a size 46.5 MX 237 and love these shoes EXCEPT these plastic piece for the Boa cable is digging into ankle bone. Ive tried a higher onsole-no help.
Wonder if the shoes will break in and no pain. Im thinking to get a pad to cushion the ankle and hope shoes will back off.
My for is 13 on the Narrow side but need a larger toe box and the Lakes are great except for the ankle issue.
I can return to competitive cycle and get a credit for another shoe but which one?

Thanks for any insights suggestions.
