Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Properly fit bibs are super comfy.

You can buy most team shorts though.

Most of the pro riders wear bibs.

Bibs are so much better than shorts...just a little more inconvenient during PEE time

The first time I rode with Bibs I was hooked. No elastic on the waist...so comfy!

I haven't tried a pair of bibs yet myself, mainly because I'm tall, 6'4", and I'm assuming, perhaps incorrectly, that I might need a "long" in my size to prevent binding in the crotch. I don't picture the elastic waist to come anywhere near the discomfort (agony?) of binding in the crotch!

Most bib makers take this into account. If you look at sizing charts for the most decent bib shorts, they include a waist, height, and weight guideline for bib shorts.

Bib shorts are a great deal more comfortable than regular shorts, IMO. For anyone who hasn't tried them yet, they are worth it!

hmmm...Checked some retailers online. No shorts. Odd. You used to be able to buy them, as well as bibs.

You might try the individual team sites directly, or the sponsors sites. Another option is E-bay, I've picked up some team kit (new) a couple times. Usually more team clothes are available after the season though.

Voler makes the Webcor kit (w/shorts). There '05 USA Cycling Foundation shorts look very nice as well. Red back panel, big "USA" on it (I'm gettin' some).

I just don't care for the fit. Tried a few brands. Just not comfortable or me.

a midget with short overalls? How can anyone tell from any distance that you're wearing bibs with a jersey on over them? Are you riding shirtless? And you can tell in the shop if they're comfortable or not?

OK...I think I look like a midget with short overalls on. And I have bought bibs before(3 different brands) and just did not like the fit. I need to be a true OCP and was hoping to find some team shorts to wear sans the damn bibs. I am about to give up. SIGH

I bought my first pair of bibs this year and will never go back. Everything above is true about comfort, however they are a little warmer, but it is worth the comfort.
