Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Kask Protone

Hi,

I'm in the market for a new road helmet. I've been using a Giro Synthe for a few years now and feel like it's time to try something different. I've been eyeing the Kask Protone. On paper it seems like a pretty good helmet but one quibble I do have is that unlike the Giro Synthe the Protone doesn't have the little silicone grippers for sunglasses. I know this is a minor thing, but it's like cupholders in a car--would you buy a car without cupholders

My question is: Does anyone have any experience with the Kask Protone in regards to stowing your sunglasses in the helmet vents? Do they stay in place even without the silicone grippers? I've searched for reviews but none seem to mention this.

Thanks.

I have the Protone and do not have any troubles using helmet vents for glasses.

The poc helmets have a thing I think they refer to as an 'eye garage' (?), where the glasses fit nice and snug and out of the way.

I have worn the Protone for several years. No problems with sunglass retention. Even looking straight down -- or even down and back a little (slightly upside-down) -- I've never had them fall out.

I had a Giro Synth and changed to a Kask Protone. I used the same pair of glasses in both and both held the glasses about the same. The grippers in the Synth didn't make a difference.
