J Bike Build Help Needed

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

J Bike Build Help Needed

I mentioned before in my thread about my build project some concern about the gap between the fork and the frame. I got responses that there should be a small one. The fork came with the crown race installed (see pic below). When installed the gap is a little over 1/8 of an inch (see pic below). This does not seem small or correct to me. Please advise.

did the fork come with the frame? It almost looks as though you have an integrated headset fork and a non-integrated headset frame?

it almost looks like the crown race wasn't pounded all the way down.

but don't take my word on it, I've only ever installed one headset. and it was threaded.

The fork came with the frame, but I have my doubts whether all is right. Regarding if it is the crown race is pressed down all of the way. It is flush with the fork. I will send an e-mail to the pedal force asking them, but would love to know what is going on first. Knowing the answer when is asking it is always a good thing.

On second thought I have another question. Is there a groove on the fork for the crown race to fit into. The gap in question is all below the lip of the crown race. If the lip was flush witht the fork then there would be no gap. I do not know if this makes sense but if you expand the picture you may understand my inadequate description.
