bike hire, Milwaukee
I'm from the UK, but visiting a friend in Milwaukee in august/september. he's likely to be at work a whole lot, so was thinking of hiring a bike. I'm not worried about anything too flash (I've only been riding a road bike for a couple of months, mainly MTB before), but something that works and would be ok for 50ish mile rides. Does anyone know of a good place to hire one for a week?
Or, I know I'm in the wrong area, but since i'm here, is there much off road around milwaukee (not too serious, just nice trails), ie would a mountain bike be better?
Thanks

If you are talking about Milw. Wisconsin then you are talking my hometown.
I could help you with road riding, but as for mountain biking, that's not my thing. However, I have a great place for you to go, near some beautiful trails in an area of a state forest that is less than an hour from downtown Milwaukee.
Look up the General Store Bike Shop in La Grange, Wisconsin.

I live in Madison, WI, 80 miles to the west, and an area of a lot of good road riding. I have a Trek 2300 that is under-utilized (note, it has clinchers); it is about 56 cm, mix of various Shimano parts, 8-cog cassette.
You can send me a private message, but someone from Milwaukee will probably be a little better. There are several bike clubs and other organizations in the Milwaukee area, which is pretty large. Will you be in the city or in one of the suburbs (either near or far)?
