Super Bowl Sunday riding-the day to tackle that busy route?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Super Bowl Sunday riding-the day to tackle that busy route?

anyone have plans to tackle a ride on super bowl sunday involving usually busy or questionable/dicey roads/routes just before or during the game?
i'm not this year as i will be driving/daytripping but i usually do and have had some good success riding routes i normally wouldn't on a
weekend, or at all, due to an absence of automobile traffic-especially out in the boonies.

Wifey & I used to go to a favorite very popular Mexican restaurant in Harvard Square on super bowl Sundays, because the normally long waits were gone & we could get seating either right away or with a short wait. I work Sundays now ... ;-(

Would love to, but it's close to -20c (-4f) outside here in that time of year! Oh well, wings & beer it will be!

Bound to be safe. No chance of drunk or distracted drivers on Super Bowl Sunday, right?

I figure the drunks will sleep in on Sunday. If the winds cooperate, I'm heading up Hwy 39 to Crystal Lake (Angeles Nat'l Forest) early and get back before the game.

I plan on going for a ride before the game. I doubt traffic will be any busier than a normal weekday, but we'll see.

I’ve always thought that this is one of the best early year rides I can take. The roads tend to be far less traveled.

Have an 8AM meet at LBS. There's another 100+ mile trainer for April's 167 mile 1 day X FL. event but before that I'll be out for a Midnight Madness 50 to 70 mile ride.

There are large group rides set for Superhype Sunday, between Fort Worth and Dallas. I can't think of anything worse than another blow-the-red-lights free-for-all on one of the drunkest days of the year.

I'll be headed the opposite direction. Maybe a smaller group ride that's actually a group ride rather than an impromptu hammerfest that leaves the group strung out for miles and occasional regroup points.

While I expect the roads will be packed with cyclists, still planning a quick trip thru Watopia.

Strava put out a promo email about segments or something.

For me it featured a segment one block long from stop sign to stop sign on the main street in town.

The KOM is 136 mph, with runners up over 80 mph.

Think I should give it a shot?

Game starts in about 3 hours, I got home from my 65-miler about an hour ago. Didn't notice any real difference between this Sunday and any given sunday.

Absolutely fantastic out there, regardless. I made a lot of lights, too. Including stopping for a dropped Clif Bar, I had a total of just 1m35s of stoppage. Solid.
