Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

veloce brake adjust - help please!

ok, this is embarrassing - a little trouble with my new bike - where is the release on veloce brake calipers?? doesnt seem like there are any?

and the calipers are off center - the pad is rubbing on one side. how do i center them without loosening (widening) them?

thanks!!

For campy the break tension release is actually on the brake lever. See the pin at the top, push it through to the other side and it will allow the lever to pivit back further then the normal ride posistion. As for centering the caliper, most of the time I can get away with just grasping the whole assembly by hand and turning it, other times I might turn the caliper's pivot bolt with a wrench to get it to center.

Don't Veloce brakes have a hex head screw for centering? Chorus, Record, and Centaur do.
It's a little one though, almost easy to miss.

Yup, it's something like a 2 or 3 mm allen screw found on the side. At least with the Veloce brakes I have (2002 maybe?).
