Problems installing a GXP crankset
Hopefully I’m doing something stupid and it’s an easy fix but I’m having one hell of a time. I have a SRAM S900 crankset. Up until recently it had a Quarq spider on it. The Quarq died and I purchased a new one, Quarq removed the spider and sent the crank arms back to me.
So, I purchased a new Origin 8 spider and installed it on the crank arms. Now when I go to install it I’m having a problem with rubbing at the bottom bracket. I’ve tried several different combinations of spacers and the wavy washer. Any thoughts? https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...6e6d37be5.jpeg |

I just removed the crankset off of one of my road bikes to see if it would install without any issues. It works perfect.

shouldn't the silver part of the spider be flush with the bolts?

Figured out that the crank cutout (indention) on the outside of the crank wasn’t wide enough for the crank arm. I did some quick grinding and it works like a charm. I’ll smooth it out and paint it later on.

Just to clarify, this was an issue with the origin8 spider? And you ground it to make room for the crankarm to sit more inboard?
