Which forum is this again?
People are certainly free to post about whatever they like here in the 42, but it is a little amusing to see all of the recent posts, questions, and commentary about gravel, sidewalk, and off-road riding...

I see a lot of questions about bike shoes, shifting systems, training and power meters, frame materials, etc. Threads about gravel make sense here because gravel roads are roads, and this is the road forum. There's a different forum on this site for racing, there's some overlap with road cycling generally but it's not 100%.

I might have gotten the number wrong... there used to be a two-digit number attached to the road cycling forum that people referred to it as - the reason, I think, is from ancient forum history; not sure if there used to be a numbering system for the bike forum topics, or if it was some insider-thing.

We cyclists follow trends like 13-17 year old girls. Someone says “gravel” and we say how much and where should I spread it (gross). Remember fat bikes? Me neither. But my point is we’re lemmings. We only question the “man” when he insists on selling us disc brakes. We don’t question the man about gravel.
I mean sometimes at a gravel event there’s beer! Have you ever!?!?
A gravel post is certainly more enjoyable than one where some sleeve napkin shut in complains that people spend too much money on *insert current old guy blabber about the price of -bar tape -chains -tubes -sunglasses -carbon frames blah blah blah...get off my steel is real lawn* and more interesting as well. For some.
Takes all kinds. Even the guys who think riding on gravel makes them some sort of superhero. I see you Batman riding the same surface I rode my Hutch Pro Raider on....35 years ago...like you just invented it.

This is a great place to learn jargon and get ideas on new things to try. I remember bewilderment when I first heard about single tracks and thought it was a one song on my cassette player. Then I saw a video and realized it was a retirement plan for orthopedists.

The night of my 40th birthday, an evil brain surgeon broke in, removed some gray matter, and now I can't remember where I put my keys or what I had for breakfast.

Perhaps I should lobby for a '43'? Or is that going just a step too far?

If you like gravel riding there’s a separate gravel forum. Those who don’t like riding gravel post about it here in the road forum for some reason.

Honestly, I think the problem is that now gravel bikes can be seen as the 'one bike' -- good for road or off-road with a tire change, or that half of a 'gravel ride' includes the pavement ride to get to the gravel or back home from the end of the gravel.

Today a group in my area did 80 miles, 7k. At least half the miles & most of the climbing on dirt- not bad for a Monday...
Wouldn't kick them off the (former) 41.
